Year 2011 has almost done its full circle for the year and here we stand once again to farewell this year and welcome the another one with our new resolution; So hereby I would like to personally wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

This Christmas I decided to go to Nan Tien Temple at Berkeley, NSW, Australia with my family hoping it would be quiet but on arrival; it was otherwise; it was mayhem when I got there.

All these people from all creeds and color were there. Questions, questions… ringing in my head. What is the sole purpose of me and these people to be here on this day of the year? Am I and the rest here because we do not celebrate the Christmas in a tradition Christen ways or is it simply because everyone of us had nowhere else to go; hence we all landed in the abode of Buddha for refuge.

Whatever the reason be I was later troubled by some more questions on the behaviour of the staff.

I have never experienced and thought that someone in the line of serving Buddha could be such impatience and short temper. Two spontaneous incident happened which left be puzzled before I could realize what just happened.

They had built up a wishing tree inside the temple and a card that we could buy was no bigger than a match box in size and costs 5 dollars. My wife wanted to buy a card and hang it on a tree. I presented the lady with 10 dollar note and she asked for a change with her colleague but her colleague was totally mad with this behaviour. She wasn’t keen on giving change. She was insisting her to ask me for exact change but she wasn’t quite comfortable on this so she looked back her again. I had to tell her that was the smallest change I have. And unwilling did she give me my change. This small incident has stirred the whole situation into another realm which I became aware when I told my wife they had wishing card with candle too. The other gentleman then questioned me what was I saying. My response was I was talking to my wife about your merchandise. Then I smiled and he just said “It’s not funny” in a very harsh voice.

If someone being in the presence of Buddha ever day behaves in such a manner then rest of the world population can’t be criticized for their arrogance in this age of “Kali”.

I hope these people visit and see the Swayambhu and Lumbini to experience what Buddha means and probably they will find peace, happiness and religion too.

God Bless
Serenity

Fiction was never my cup of tea. But there are still few books that I cannot forget and stop praising it for its beauty. The Firm by John Grisham, Shogun by James Clavell, Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon are the few of them which have immense impact on my reading; fiction.

On my last visit to Nepal, I saw a book on the street and its titled पागल बस्ती. The name itself was appealing. I couldn’t resist myself from momentarily halting my walk and have a sneak peak on the book. I dropped it back after a few minutes of flicking over and walked away with a heavy heart without being able to decide if I should buy it or not; as I was unsure. Will I be able to finish it ?? or will my anger just take over my reading for not being able to comprehend.

But the battle continued in my head. I wondered what made him choose such a title, and what could be the content of it. I have heard the rumours that this book reflects his life but he has denied this comment in media and his book. It took him six years to complete this book. 6 years; long time for a book but it was worth every year I would say; after I finished reading it.

I could not hold myself from contemplating on content of the book. This battle in my head kept on going till the day of my departure. Then finally; before I left for the airport, I had to rush myself at the book store.

I was content with my purchase and couldn’t wait to land and get home and read the book. I did. Few pages and closed it. Few pages again and closed it. I had to read first few pages couple more time just to get the grip. Then I was on the smooth ride without any complication with few hiccups here and there but I was ok with that.

It’s a tragic story but has the potential of being a modern day equivalent of Romeo and Juliet in Nepali society/literature. It’s fascinating, depressing, humorous and contemporary, all, at the same time. It’s one’s battle for tradition, principles, way of life, morality and at the same time someone is rebellion on these grounds. It’s a constant battle; done in psychological and philosophical level. But it’s a supreme delight to read as well.

Love doesn’t hate and doesn’t stop loving on its rejection. It could be used as a force to give a new meaning to live/life or it could just crumble the individual. The variation it creates in human life before and after the understanding of one-truth is spectacular. This theme comprehends the whole soul of this book.

Anup KC

PS. This is a MUST MUST MUST READ.

On Society and Education

The society is full-on with eastern philosophy which comprises of religion and the way of life and on the other side we have education following the western principles and philosophy. These are two sides of magnet and repels on its proximity. Both ends serves well if it’s left on its own but when brought together it just repels and pushes each other. When society demands individual to act on its norm but the education bends the otherwise. Thus a conflict.

That conflict could be simple or life changing. One could simply accept it, neutralize it or simply forget it. Or we can try to think on it and try to resolve its issues on society. We all (individual/nation) have our own history and that history has shaped us what we are today and now we are going to build tomorrow on our present. Hence our awareness of our doings should be enough for one to reason if our today’s action brings our tomorrow which we dream of or at least we hope it to be.

For good or bad, it’s our education that’s playing part in our every action with the influence of the society which is completely incompatible to forge alliance and work for common purpose. One teaches you to obey and follows the steps of instruction that is handed to you other just questions you to demand for his reason and put your views forward. Hence resolving the issues in diplomatic norms but the society was not built on diplomatic principles. Society always holds the values of family and religion.

Religion; a dharma, which is a way of life to us is also known as karma but for the west it’s just another hindrance in their advancement. They built their societies in the foundation of reason and principles whereas we, on our morals and what is and is not allowed by our dharma. Both of them are unquestionable on their own but when mixed it’s like a drug. Some will find his way to betterment some will just get lost.

When society instructs him to do certain things he always stands in the cross-road of society norms and principles of his own that is acquired through his education. Hence confusion; this confusion could be used in good if one is able to understand and reason the things he’s been asked to do and his views on the task. A common and distinct example for this would be a leadership.

A leader of a party is always viewed as a servant of the public which it serves but it has become the medium to show one’s status in the society; which is built on complex hierarchy of cast and creed. The European and English society was too built on this but America chose the otherwise. Your birth or the family didn’t carved your status instead ones actions earned the reputation and gained the status in the society. They reasoned, they fought, for the betterment of the society not just of the individual.

Now we again stand on the cross-road of confusion if these two can mingle and make Nepal a better place or will it just crush everyone till none remains. The oral form of education and passing the experience through word of mouth to generation after generation in the past has created a lot of rumours on every issue. The need of documentation and importance of having written down and printed for the general public to know is still not a popular choice. Everyone is speculating on every issue. This is dangerous for both; present and future.

I hereby would like express my views on education system in Nepal be developed in following ways:

No one should be deprived from gaining a quality education. It needs to be regulated and monitored in school level as well as state/government level every two years or so to measure its effectiveness. There is no point of providing education to kids if it can bring no change.

Every citizen should be able to gain education without any financial burden. Making it free doesn’t mean it has no value but it should be regulated and student progress needs to be monitored and proper action taken for the achievement.

The public and private schools brings a two distinct class of citizens due to education they received and the difference between them needs to be minimized to balance the outcome.

The education in primary school should not just be focused on reading text books but help them to grow; which means let them choose, make decision not just tell them what to do. They should be provided with glimpse on history and the culture of Nepal and what it means being a Nepali.

Education should not just focus on text-books it should teach how to be a responsible citizen. They should be able to respect the Nepali society and its value but also not hindered on their steps of development. It should not be, just read and forgotten; it needs to be applied.

Education should not constrain itself to being academic; it should have a flavour of literature. Society needs to attach itself to these creation and creator through those characters within that realm; which will further develop the understanding of the society of that era.

Muna and Madan should not just live in the book; it should be in the heart of Nepalese. Basanti should not just be generalized as a character, Dibya Upadesh should not just remain with its title and the writer instead general public needs to be aware of its content and see if it would be of any use today. Like Romeo and Juliet, Aladdin, Snow-white we need to know our fictional characters too.

Every citizen by the time they leave the school should be fully aware of their culture, nations past, present and be able to judge there future with the steps they take and if that is how one perceives the Nepal to be. He should come out as a responsible citizen with enthusiasm to do something for himself and the society.

Education should be able to provide patriotism and acceptance of the individual that, the education he acquires should not just be used for his benefit but should be used to betterment of the society in small scale and country in large scale; even world in humanitarian terms if could be.

It’s an uphill battle for us but we should not lose hope; for to compete with the world and be number one we got to take the bumpy ride on our way to top. As is said nothing good comes easy and every good things takes time. American says anything is achievable if you try hard enough with pure dedication but we contradict ourselves here with “karma garnu faal ko aash na gar nu”. As this been said by Krishna in Gita to Arjuna: “You can choose your action but the result………….. is not in your hands. It’s up to someone else. Hence as a human our periphery is up to the option we choose.”

God Bless
Hope we will see the sunshine Anup KC

The Mao’s of Nepal has not only destabilized the politics but also the social norms of the society. It has crippled the society from functioning. People are facing anxiety, fear and depression on everyday basis which is an irony of this country. Peace was once the prominent voice now it’s just the war torn country. They did get what they wanted as other political parties did; the PM seat but what has the public received. Absolutely nothing, complete zero and we are still numb. WHY? The only reason is public forgets things too soon and revive on the same lie of getting done something for them. This is the only reason for political parties of being able to retain themselves in the scene even after a complete failure of them being in politics for more than 50 years.

Since 1950, the rise of Democracy after 30 years of its initial death all we have witnessed is the battle of the politicians for PM and starts the conspiracy once again as soon as someone gets the office. Not a single party has demonstrated to act on the interest of the nation and its people. Always busy with their own personal egos and priority. If only those egos were any good for the nation’s betterment would we have seen the ray of hope? But its existence is none; it’s a complete disaster.

The leader head of the major political parties were raised and fed in the foreign soil; which is not so far from the mother land but has lacked all the essential ingredients for being a better human. It’s a land of unethical; hence we suffer. BP in his jail journal (जेल जर्नल) mentioned it’s a place where the culture is at its fault (हिन्दूस्तानको स्कृतिनै बडो दोषपूर्ण छ) [one of my favorite]. Koirala brothers fought with each other for the office and Krishna Prasad Bhattari once said “Never to trust Koirala family as they would do anything for the office and power” (कोइराला परिवारलाई विश्वास गर्नु हुँदैन, उनीहरु सत्ता र शक्तिका लागी जे पनि गर्छन्). And the communist never knew what communism was all about. Hence it was no different battle for them but to pave the way to the office. They just fought with each other as old grumpy men without any agenda to come forward with. Everyone was looking for the opportunity just to harm the other and nation more than its predecessor did.

Media, crown and political parties never played enough to pave any positive path for the nation to lead. They were just busy finding the others fault without being able to look on their own character. They lacked the ability to understand that the invisible concrete wall that was built between them was so high was never knocked down with proper communication. The crown was vague, the politicians were in disarray and media was the monkey. The public being the rat in the laboratory and there were constantly tested. Crown did a lot to maintain and prosperous the democracy through educating the leaders but it was all in vain. Politicians were never able to differentiate between them chanting slogans on the street and actually taking the office responsibly and acting accordingly.

Media is to be blamed for most of it as it lacked the professionalism and discipline. It had no clue what power and effect it possessed except for the understanding pen is mightier than sword. Hence they kept writing without thinking the consequences of theirs actions. But there were few with exceptional talent on their job but the 99% of them behaving in idiotic way which just made the public more dumb. Media never knew when to shut up and when it’s required to speak. It just went on its own accord. Every single organization was running on its own. There was no communication and co-ordination between anyone of them.

The ministers in the office were busy to politicalize the whole department in nation. They were blindfolded to see the negative impact of their actions. They were hiring and overstaffing by filling the offices with their carades (पार्टि कार्यकर्ता) without any qualification and qualities in them to perform. Hence the nation failed and still they deny accepting their incompetency. We need to seriously design a course at Staff College for our politician to take and sit for exams before they were assigned an office to commemorate.

Politicians never understood the formal way of doing things as it was कालो अक्ष्यर भैसी बराबर. Once they were given the offices they never thought of the paper work and the way they needs to be. There was no behavioral change nor in any mental state. They went in as a stubborn child and came out the same and struggled again to get in. When methods and protocols were shown they just went numb and acted solely on dictating their own whim. They fought for the equality, they fought because they said panchayat regime was authoritarian but in the end they turned themselves into being a dictator which they never saw.

After the successful completion of 17th round of election, Nepal finally gets her Prime Minister, Jhal Nath Khanal who is a fourth communist leader to held the position. Was it to be such; only losers are the real winners after all. First; Madhav Nepal who lost the election but ended being a care taker Prime Minister of Nepal when Maoist chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal, resigned on 4th of May,following a dispute with Nepal’s president.

Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) won general elections in 2008 but did not obtain a majority in parliament. They established themselves as the largest party of Nepal which was Nepali Congress till then. They won the election with 220 seats out of 575. Nepal Congress with 110 seats became the second largest party and Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) with 103 seats became third largest party. The Constitutional Assembly will have 2 years’ time to build a new constitution to replace the interim one.

The general election for Constitute Assembly was held on Nepal on 10 April 2008. It will draft a new constitution and foremost important decision that it has to take was republic or constitutional monarchy. Executive power is exercised by the Prime Minister and his cabinet, while legislative power is vested in the Constituent Assembly.

Dahal resigned after President Ram Baran Yadav rejected his sacking of the country’s army chief, who had resisted efforts to integrate former Maoist fighters into the military.

Prachanda quit and Madhav Nepal moved into office. Soon the agenda of development disappeared from agenda and started a fierce battle for the position but no vision for future. The Position of PM remains vacant when Madhav Kumar Nepal reigned on 30 June 2010.

Now we will have Jhal Nath Khanal; our 34 Prime Minister of Nepal; be sworn in on Sunday. Lets hope this time they will be able to focus on their destined jobs. I think we should not forget Devi Prasad Regmi’s blessing for Jhal Nath Khanal.

Pashupati Nath lay hami sabai ko raachya garun.

सिपाहि (A soldier) was my first book that introduced me to Nepali Literature. That was year 11 (1997). Before that I kept me self in complete dark with my assumption that I am in no capability of understanding the words of literature. The only book in Nepali language was Mahendra Mala in school rest was in English. I was taught English Grammar since UKG but I learnt Nepali grammar when I got to class 8 and class 9-10 were intense with grammar and more in writing too which pissed me off for not being able to cope with it. They did introduce history and grammar in year 4 but all in vain. The course was scrapped; it was too much for us to handle instead we got social studies and moral science which was more or less science and the other being stories with moral values. And little did I care as I was completely soaked by English language and its literature.

I could read and was reading volumes and volumes of book and newspaper on English but couldn’t understand a word of Nepali. I could read but I couldn’t get the message across my head. I tried and tried but nothing to my avail. Then I came across my few personalities who taught me Nepali literature and lend me books to read and explained me the content when I got agitated with the contents. I started reading magazines and newspapers and underline the words I didn’t understand and they would happily explain it to me. I was progressing but in a very very very very very slow pace but they weren’t exhausted instead horror-struck with the level of my understanding of my Nepali language.

सिपाहि was our textbook for year 11 and it was an absolute delight. Then I went to book store and bought some books without knowing the author and what was book about but only thing that I was conscious was the thickness of it. The book has to be the size of around सिपाहि-soldier book which I thought was easy to understand. After reading 20 or more of those size books then I went for newspaper and thicker book but I was in despair and disgust with my limitation of my own language. Then I was able to differentiate between reading stories and actual non-fiction.

In school we had a new curriculum in year 4 that we have to study History but the book came late as it was to be printed by “Sajha Prakashan” which is owned by government. So as usual it didn’t arrive in time. We probably have waited 3-4 moths. After that what I see is the disaster the book was thicker than Mahendra Mala and the text were smaller and the images were in black and white. Too many names and dates and places when I didn’t even knew my own date of birth. I was memorizing the name and dates and places of history which I obviously failed to do as something new came up Bikram Sambath. Before then it was one date 1989AD. But now I have AD, BD, and Bikram Sambath and whole new 12 months. And weird expression for AD and BD in Nepali which I still don’t understand. I was driving myself crazy just to understand why can’t we just have one. As we started with Jan to Dec why not print the book after you convert the dates in English. Why this torment at this tender age of 9. We never cared for this all these years (year 1 to 3).

But my introduction to सिपाहि-soldier on year 11 really thrilled me of my society and people. It’s not that I wasn’t aware of my surrounding but I was in my own world of Hollywood and Shakespeare and MTV, little did I care for the rest as I was having a good time with all those that I had.

I had a perception that the whole world not just the world but the damn galaxy knew about Nepal and their sons and their history as I knew about the world by BBC or through the books that were taught in school. But on my arrival to Australia in 2001 it pushed me back for their backwardness and limitation when they have no idea what and where Nepal is. And few those who knew were aware of the massacre of royals and nothing more. What a terrible state I was in. I thought everyone knew about the Gurkha and what they did in WWI and WWII. To my most amazement Australians celebrate Anzac day on the honor of their lost soldiers in Gallipoli but no mention of Gurkha’s deeds.

But to my horror this is not the end; our beloved neighbor who talks so much about us being brother in arms is the worst. In 1975 King Birendra proposed Nepal to be recognized internationally as a zone of peace. It has won the support of 112 nations but New Delhi is numb in this issue which it thinks contradicts with 1950 treaty and a way of nonalignment with India. What ??????????????. India that became India, Pakistan and then later Bangladesh doesn’t have a positive relation when they are the sons of same mother. And we being the total stranger just because we are Hindu we got to align with them more then there step sons (Pakistan and Bangladesh). Thukka(=spit) Nepali neta(=politician) ko buddhi(=knowledge). The neighbor who wouldn’t support you. Now this made me seriously think about my understanding of the world and the world’s conception on Nepal and Nepali.

Life was still moving on but I was in no peace. How on earth can we Nepalese in Nepal think the world knows about us; what Gurkha did, about the Mt. Everest, and Buddha. But here I was totally losing my sanity; none of them knew; neither cared and more to that I was in disarray as I didn’t knew if I was to cry or laugh when the Buddhist around the world can’t say what Buddhism is about and who and where was Buddha from. They simply didn’t care. Their response was I don’t’ know; I just follow Buddhism but how could you. Is the whole world kidding me?

Now I vowed me self to let the world know about the Nepal and Nepalese. I was struggling in school just differentiate me self from Indians. I am not Indian but Nepali and have my own language and culture and custom; same was the case at work. But the hard part was the Indians to convince. There plain belief as we are Hindus and able to understand them we are same. Since when did religion belong to a country? It is for those who believe in it. Christianity doesn’t belong to America. English doesn’t belong to England neither being Christian is being American and knowing English is being English. Is everyone speaking English from England? What a confined thought.

I was then on the internet and bookstore reading the history. I was engaged in the books of history then I was ever throughout my school life back home. I was arguing with everyone on religion, language, history and individuality, sovereignty. The more I learn the more I argued the more frustrated I was; never knew why I was exhausted.

My consciousness then was my sole intension to make people understand Nepal and their culture and people. But people with restricted mind who were unable to accept or regard any new incomings or anything that contradicted there assumption and knowing they would then simply ignore or make themselves unheard as their only defense to keep themselves out of controversy or simply thinking their knowledge and understanding is better and is at its best then me telling them who is just too young to lecture them.

I was always interested in my culture and history of country since my childhood but I wanted the books to be in English as of my limitation with the Nepali language. I had no hope of passing then so called Iron Gate of our life just because of Mahendra Mala but luckily I did and I always tried to keep my distance from those texts but now I find meself more bound to it more than anything else. Internet was a good source but the writer were westerns who had incomplete understand of Nepal and its citizens in whole. They knew the part which was enough for them to draw the picture as a complete. But I was not satisfied.

As I was surfing the internet I came across the book named “Nepal ko AAlochanathmak Ittash” नेपालको आलोचनात्मक ईतिहास . I asked my parents to send me that book and when I started reading that book something caught me and still can’t get that out of my head. It was on Prologue(well that’s what I think its titled प्राक्कथन) where writer writes “words put down by the foreign writers on Nepal and its history is more of a fiction and he feels guilty and wrote this book to pay the tribute to the milk that mother Nepal provided him when he was young”. What a thought; blew me out, more than that he hints “the true lover of ‘Nepal and its history’ and a ‘student of history’ should read a book by Nepali writer who was born here and have seen and been with every single aspect of the life”. He will be the one who will understand your soil, your smell, your thirst and your hunger in person and not in perception. He is same as you. It’s not you have to be fellow citizen to understand that but in the context of Nepal I think it helps being us so in-rooted in culture and tradition and we were in harmony with “chaar jaat and chatish barna”( चार जात ३६ बर्ण) . He even goes further saying “individuals interested in history needs to understand the basic principles and philosophy and boundaries of it.”(इतिहासका जिज्ञासुहरुले इतिहासको आधारभूत सिध्दान्त, दर्शन र परिधिको राम्ररी अध्ययन गर्नु पर्छ।)

Since then I have been constantly reading books by Nepali writer obviously I have to convert the date and time in English before I could get the vision of time and space but I don’t mind that now as I have no choice as writers don’t care about my disability of understanding on single reading. Nor can they satisfy every single reader. Hence I don’t mind and am getting used to it by means of learning the unknown words but never complaining.

I have stretched my reading not only limited to history but back to literature again though I struggle. I have to read the same line again and again and there is no guarantee that I will understand. But I keep trying. Then again I hate the printing mistakes as it’s already too tough for me and the printing mistakes just make me intolerable. It could be the structure of sentence as we have subject + verb + object in English and subject + object + verb in Nepali grammar which is sufficient enough to complicate things, and on top of that just add the few names that I can’t spell and places I can’t read and recognize that will hit the boiling point in me.

I hope there is a someway that I could just quickly learn to read and understand every bit of it but at the moment I read and leave the word which I don’t understand and they comprise of 90% of text. Currently I am reading “What is Hindusim?” It’s written by इडि. विश्वनाथन् and translate in Nepali by Pusparaj. I don’t believe he did a good job on this neither understands the translator job. It’s just one of those written in a hurry just to get it published and earn a bit with full print mistakes. Some of the texts just don’t make any sense. In the same line he changes the name of a person and again accepts something been said by “A” and denies on the next. It is a nightmare for me. Now I’ve made another vow never to read Translated version and have a good look if it’s translated version. Damn the way it’s written; hard to pronounce. The name and places written in Nepali is harder for me; as to the difference of pronunciation which alters the way it is written in Nepali and English; which takes me a while to convince myself that this is what he actually meant. Here I could be wrong and could be right. A doubt which never leaves until I finish the book sometimes even after its completion.

The only reason I am reading book is that I’ve got a fair bit of idea on religion of the world and their philosophy and principles but my own that I am so proud and boast of being Hindu knows no more than the word like the Buddhist that I have met here who are all Asians. I am happy to know things through this book but the output that I am getting is too less, which compares to nothing; regards to the content it contains.

With all my experience now I could say is that we need to have our history, culture and religion lessons taught in school in true and meaningful way but the irony is it’s not a Hindu kingdom/country anymore. Hence you teach one than rest will go unrest.

Peace with all. God Bless

Nepal yesterday administered a nationwide polio immunization campaign. Many polio vaccine centers were setup for easy access of polio drops to the general public.

There are a few basic things that everyone should know about polio:

Polio is a highly infectious viral disease through Poliomyelitis (polio).

Polio mainly affects children under five years of age.

Poliovirus is mainly passed through person-to-person contact.

There is no cure for polio, it can only be prevented through immunization.

Until and unless polio is eradicated, the polio drop has to be given.

Poliomyelitis or simply “polio” is a highly infectious viral disease, which mainly affects young children. The virus is transmitted through contaminated food and water, and multiplies in the intestine, from where it can invade the nervous system. Many infected people have no symptoms, but do excrete the virus in their faeces, hence transmitting infection to others.

Initial symptoms of polio include fever, fatigue, headache, vomiting, stiffness in the neck, and pain in the limbs. In a small proportion of cases, the disease causes paralysis, which is often permanent. Polio can only be prevented by immunization.

Who is most at risk of polio?

Polio mainly affects children under five years of age. However, immune and or partially immune adults and children can still be infected with poliovirus and carry the virus for long enough to take the virus from one country to another, infecting close contacts and contaminating sanitation systems. This could facilitate transmission especially in countries where sanitation systems are sub-standard.

There is no cure for polio, it can only be prevented through immunization. Polio vaccine, given multiple times, almost always protects a child for life. Full immunization will markedly reduce an individual’s risk of developing paralytic polio. Full immunization will protect most people, however individuals can still contract the disease due to the failure of some individuals to respond to the vaccine.

Bandh and Political party have been synonymous or else it wouldn’t appear so often as the days in a week that rolls on every day of the month. The so called Student Union or the young generation faction of any party just doesn’t seem to understand or whatever the reason might be but it all seems blind man leading. As the name suggests it is a student union so must belong to some institution and hopefully they will be taught and in the mean time they do learn something that should make them wary of the things that’s happening around them or are they just the bunch stupid nerd admitted in the universities just to create the chaos in the country with there protest, band, hooliganism, and merely following the orders of the party leader like the army without any consideration.

Being the student and young they are supposed to be the energy to build something, do something but all we see is just the opposite. Regardless of what qualifications you have everyone is doing the same: beating the weak, breaking someone’s property in the name of protest. But how will this change a thing. Does this affect the government or the person you are protesting for or against? It just harms and hurts the next person who is another Nepali like you, a brother in a wider sense. He might have his own problems and situation that he is fighting for just to meet the ends. But who cares. The party says or the leader of the student union is unhappy about something; now guess what; band, without any prior notice what do you expect someone to do at that moment, they can’t just simply disappear on your mood for Bandh and then be visible back aging when the situation changes.

Here I would like to address the whole young generation in universities and colleges that are linked with the union do you ever question your leader and does your leader ask the explanation to the party. I believe its negative and you all are right who does care as long as the destruction goes on without harming you; let go the unknown. But if we are to look at this scenario; how right are we to do this; why not take a proper action; writing a complaint letter and making sure issues has been addressed and wait for the response after that do the protest but make sure it hampers the government but not the public or the nation.

The country should run without any interference of the protest which will then be supported by whole nation with full strength. If the things doesn’t run this way then make it happen you are the youth, you are the leader don’t tell me you can’t and give me the alternative to destruction. You are there so we could have some kind of peace and justice not the violence. Make politics the effective way to govern rather than the excuses for everything and choose the path of band.

Why don’t we try the new approach on this? How about we take the few facilities that we grand our leaders; just for the counter check if they are there to enjoy the power or really do the creative work. But again to get the job done; we need to train our leaders first; as they are only used to vandalism and riot is the only common friend they have. So probably the best way to do is to take an aptitude test, behavioral test, administrative knowledge test, attitude test and the background test. If these things are not clear then they can’t compete and be involved as a leader in any political parties. This will bring the clean and fresh generation with a can do attitude which is what we need at the moment.

This recent incident of Pokhara Bandh and the vandalism of the Janapriya Multiple Campus demanding resignation of campus chief is a shameful act of the educated fools. There should be a proper channel to go through for all this process not just the vandalism on every single occasions and then strike with Bandh making everyone cripple in the society just because you didn’t find the right way to do it or any reason. The society suffered every time they made their irrational decisions without consideration for anyone. Anyway who gives them right to vandalism; does our constitution say it’s legal to do so if you are unhappy about something. Then why do they never get charged with vandalism and make them pay for the damage and send them off with warning that they could be jailed if they were caught next time. I think this action will stop all this mess. If only one is caught and made him pay for what he destroyed I don’t’ believe there will be anyone who would love to do it again just to pay the damage later on. At least they will think once before they act; if they could afford it. It’s a national property not an individual. They break it we suffer we have no desk in the classroom no facilities in the laboratory or the documents lost it’s an unthinkable damages for which charges must be laid.

Why destroy anyone’s vehicle if you are unhappy with PM go and destroy his car, make him take the public transport and let him learn what you are going through. Make him uneasy, not me; I am also the victim of the same bureaucracy as you are. By your act it’s just I am suffering more.

All these unnecessary and unwanted behaviors have consumed our student union and party leaders so bad that this is going to take a while to make everyone aware but the time is all we don’t have to play the waiting game. Hence if these acts are made illegal; hope it already is; make them repay for all the damage or else keep them in jail and use the labor until that amount is met which might exceed the life time expectancy of the person but what needs to be done needs to be done for the shake of the change. Just make sure your dissatisfaction is heard and conducted in proper way.
